Skunked Dog! Some tips for treating your skunked pet:

• Examine your pet first to make sure it was not injured in any way by the skunk. If injured, consult your veterinarian. Skunks can carry rabies and other diseases. Since skunks are nocturnal, one indication that the skunk may be sick is if it was out during the day.
• Have someone help you while you treat your pet. Don't try to do it alone. It does take some time to completely treat your pet. It can be hard work, especially if your pet does not like baths.
• If your pet got in the house, brew a pot of coffee. Although this will not get rid of the odor, it will make it easier to bare for the time being.
• Put on some old clothes. When you are done, add BON to your wash to make sure the smell is gone for good!
• Try to treat you dog outside to avoid the smell coming into your home. If the odor is present inside, spray BON on all affected areas. If the odors are severe, you may need to fog with the odor neutralizer. Contact BioWorld for more information.
• Treat your pet as soon as possible. If the skunk spray dries, it will be much harder to treat.
• Brush or comb the affected areas on your pet. Removing loose hair helps to reduce the smell more quickly.
• Add 2 to 4 ounces BON-CC41 to your pet's bath water and shampoo when you bathe them. Spray BON directly on their coat. Since the skunk spray is oily, you may also want to use a degreasing shampoo. Bathe just the affected area first to avoid spreading the smell. Dogs normally get skunked in the neck and facial area.

• After you bathe your pet, examine the eyes to make sure the sulfuric spray did not get in them. If they are red and watery, contact your veterinarian right away. In rare cases, your pet may be blinded for a short period of time, but it will not last. Spray in the eyes can be very painful.
• Don't forget about your pet's collar or leash. Wash them thoroughly before putting them back on your pet. Use BON in the wash water and spray BON directly on the surfaces.
• Jump in the shower! It's your turn now. No matter how hard you try, it is impossible to treat your pet and not get the smell on yourself. BON has many uses so you can even use BON on yourself. We have even had a customer use BON in her hair when she got a perm to decrease that smell. It worked great!
• If your pet gets wet, the skunk odor may return. Give it another bath the same way you did before or just spray the BON directly on their coat!
• Give your pet lots of love! They have just been through a traumatic event, so give them extra attention! Also, give your pet The Pet Beverage to eliminate any other odors it may have, including bad breath and body odor.

Tips for the Home:

• Shampoo the carpets: Add 4 oz BON-CC41 in your carpet shampooer.
• Laundry: Add 2 to 4 oz BON-CC41 to your laundry with your regular soap to wash your clothes and towels that have skunk odor.
• Fogging: If the smell has absorbed into furniture, consider purchasing a fogger to apply micron sized droplets of BON-CC41 in every nook and cranny in your home.  You can also fog under the house where skunks often make their home.
